ATATÜRK'S 72. IMMORTALITY ANNIVERSARY, NOVEMBER 10, 1938-2010
On November 10, 2010 it will be seventy two years since Turkey's First President and Founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk became immortal. Every passing year since 1938 we missed him more than a year before.
On the seventy second year anniversary of his immortality , I like to bring your attention to his universal love and compassion for all of the soldiers of the world. You will witness this on his message to ANZAC soldiers' mothers, engraved on memorials in Canakkale(Dardanelles), Turkey.
No wonder than the sons of other nations who served in Turkey have a great admiration and respect for him, like the American soldiers who have served in the Homeland of ours. ...............I am rushing at the moment but I took a few moments to look at your website and loved the pics on Berlin. I especially liked the photo of the ship that took your grandmother from Italy to Istanbul. It is very rare that we can find photos of ships of long ago. However, I was surprised to find the ships that took me to Europe and back again. I will place them in your attachment. The Arkadia took me from Montreal to Cherbourg on my first trip to Europe in 1958. The NEW YORK brought me back to New York from Cork, Ireland. I had walked from London to Edinburgh and a train to Glasgow and a ferry across to Ireland. Then walked through Ireland to Cork and found my way to Cobh to board the ship. Carte Postale Nostalgia:
